H Pylori = Bad Breath?

Hi,

It’s reassuring to know there are people out there who have had the same trouble. I’ve gotten pretty sick and tired of smelling this awful smell that seems to be coming from my mouth. My family and friends tell me I’m going mad. Right up until someone says ‘who farted’ and no-one has! And I know the smell came from me. Also I’ve been suffering from heartburn, reflux, gurgles in the throat and tummy, wind, bloating, and bad overall digestion. I Genuinely thought I was falling apart! It stumped me, and made me pretty miserable for some time. The doctors have been extremely unhelpful. But now, through talking to another doctor, going to a nutritionist and doing hours or research on the internet, we seem to have found the that the culprit is H Pylori. Since discovering this and waiting for an endoscopy (damn the NHS), I’ve taken up eating several teaspoons of Manuka Honey each day. I wasn’t sure about it, until I noticed the heartburn had stopped and (even though I’ve still got a yukky taste in my mouth) the awful smell seems to have almost gone! And that’s just after half a jar!

I recommend a whole bunch of things – HP seems to mess up the whole digestive system and caused me to have food intolerances so I’ve been advised to cut out gluten, dairy and yeast for a month or so. And I’m taking all sorts of supplements:

Bio-Acidophilus to replace the good bacteria (none of that sugered probiotic yogurt rubbish)
Antifungal Pau D’arco tea or capsules (mainly for any yeast issues)
Biocare Hepaguard Forte for the liver (which suffers at this time)
Berberine and grapefruit (antimicrobial I think)
Some Enzyme Digest capsules (to help break down protein and carbs)
Psyllium (to help digestion which is totally buggered at this time)
And of course Manuka Honey. Which seems to do the trick (Active 10 or more is recommended).

I know this seems like a lot of stuff. I’ve gone for an all-out approach as I got so tired of the symptoms. But I can’t recommend Manuka honey enough. Just make sure you’re going for the high Active ones.

The double or triple course of antibiotics might help. I’ve not tried this yet. Though I hear different stories about the success rates.

Anyway, I do hope this might help a bit. For me, realising that it was HP and not some dreaded, unknown, uncurable disease put my mind at ease.

I hope you get it sorted and good luck!
