How to Get Rid of Bad Breath Permanently

Probably the best way on how to get rid of bad breath permanently is to identify its causes and avoid them. Of course, prevention is always better than cure, and by preventing bad breath, you can also avoid getting into the embarrassment of having to deal with it. A foul-smelling breath is indeed a major turn-off, can drive your friends and acquaintances away, and can affect your social life as well. If you want to put an end to this problem permanently, here are some things that you have to keep in mind.

1. Regular dental cleaning. It is advisable to have your teeth cleaned by your dentist regularly – preferably every six to twelve months. This regular cleaning will not only give your teeth deep cleaning, it will also help you address dental problems such as cavities early on. Cavities cause bad smelling breath, and the earlier you can address it, the easier you can avoid bad breath and save your teeth early as well.

2. Do your part in regular cleaning. Take your brushing and flossing seriously. Sometimes we tend to rush tooth brushing that we often are not cleaning everything thoroughly, and thus still leads to foul smelling breath. To learn how to get rid of bad breath permanently, make sure you brush your teeth at least 2 minutes every after meal.

3. Get yourself a tongue cleaner. Cleaning your tongue is also a good way to get rid of bad breath permanently. Your tongue can be a host of bacteria that cause the bad smell, thus make sure you also regularly clean your tongue as you brush your teeth. Also make sure to brush the roof of your mouth as this can also be a host to the odor-causing bacteria in the mouth.

4. Drink plenty of water everyday. Water flushes out food particles and bacteria off your mouth, thereby helping you clean your mouth and prevent bad smelling breath.

5. Stop smoking. Aside from the smell of smoke in your breath, smoking can also cause dry mouth, which can also lead to foul smelling breath. When your mouth is dry, like when you are sleeping with open mouth, it will allow bacteria to develop and cause the ‘morning breath’.

Keep in mind that poor dental habits cause your breath to smell bad, thus make sure you take your part in cleaning your teeth and your mouth thoroughly. Bacteria feeding on the food particles left in between your teeth and in some other areas of the mouth causes the bad smell and thus, if you want to learn how to get rid of bad breath permanently, learn to make everything clean.

Keep in mind too that other medical conditions can also cause bad breath. Gum problems, tonsil stones, diabetes, sinusitis, dry mouth, kidney and liver problems and many others can also be causes of that bad smelling breath, thus if you want to have fresh breath, stay healthy, maintain good diet, drink plenty of water and always practice good oral hygiene. You may want to visit your doctor as well to address underlying conditions.
