How to Naturally Eliminate Bad Breath

Many people are looking for ways on how to naturally eliminate bad breath. After all, suffering from halitosis (bad breath) is not a pleasant condition to have and is one that can cause great embarrassment to those affected by it. However, there is hope. Many ways are available in order to help you get rid of bad breath for good.

In order to find ways to avoid bad breath, one must first understand what causes it. The most common sources of bad odors in the mouth are caused by the presence of bacteria or pieces of decaying foods. The mouth is an environment which easily allows pieces of food to become lodged in certain tight spots, such as between teeth. The longer pieces of food stay trapped in the mouth, the more likely it is that they will cause bad breath by allowing the growth of bacteria.

The first way to naturally eliminate bad breath is to practice a proper oral hygiene regimen. This means to brush your teeth completely at least two or three times a day. You should also pay special attention to the tongue, as bacteria may also stay stuck there. Flossing is also recommended in order to get out particles of food that are stuck between teeth and that cannot be removed by brushing alone.

Besides brushing and flossing, another way to prevent bad breath naturally is by keeping the mouth hydrated. Saliva helps to fight bad breath by washing away bacteria as well as food particles that are stuck in your mouth, in addition to having some antibacterial properties.

One popular way to stimulate the production of saliva is by chewing gum. In addition to having a scent that masks bad breath, gum increases the flow of saliva by the action of chewing in itself.
