Perfect Baby – Awful Baby Bad Breath

Babies Bad Breath – Fortunately this can be Cured

Baby bad breath is more common than you think. A lot of new parents are quickly alarmed to discover that their precious baby has bad breath and would panic. This is pretty understandable as when we think of babies, we quickly associate it with a sweet smell. So if your infant has bad breath, then there are some things you need to consider.

First off, babies, like adults experience what we all know as morning breath. As babies sleep, the production of saliva ceases and bacteria residing in the mouth can multiply easier and cause more unpleasant odor just as with adults.

To avoid baby morning breath, try to gently brush or rinse your baby’s mouth before he or she goes to sleep. Doing so will remove the excess traces of formula or pieces of food bits inside the mouth which helps the bacteria to reproduce.

If your baby still has bad breath after this, other causes may include having a baby item, like a pacifier, soother or toy, which the baby sucks frequently. The item may already be dirty and this causes baby bad breath. You need to frequently wash the things your baby has constant contact with not only to ensure sweet smelling breath, but also to avoid illnesses.

Sometimes, though, baby bad breath may be caused by an infection. You need to consult your pediatrician about this. Bad breath may be a telltale sign of a health problem and this should not be disregarded.
