The Top Nine Worst Bad Breath Remedies

The Top Nine Worst Bad Breath Remedies

By Paul J. Heldt – The Bad Breath Report

When you’re desperate to cure bad breath, you’re probably willing to try anything that provides some hint that it might alleviate your problem.

Sadly, there is a lot of misinformation on how to cure bad breath that will usually make your problem much worse. To protect you from wasting time, energy, and money on ineffective remedies, I extinguish them, below:

Excessive Mouthwash Use: Using alcohol-based mouthwashes often will make your mouth dry, and eventually produce stinky tissue that smells much worse than it originally was.

Mints: Consuming mints all of the time will subject your mouth to acid attacks, which increases your risk of getting cavities and gum disease. The next time you’re tempted to pop a mint in your mouth, make sure it’s sugarless.

Gum Chewing: Gums with sugar also subject your mouth to acid attacks. Although gum increases your saliva production (which helps combat bad breath), in the long run, gum only masks your problem. Remember to chew sugarless gums, so you don’t get cavities, bad breath, and gum disease.

Brushing with Household Cleaners: Under no circumstances should you use cleaners for oral or topical use! While some organic products (like tea tree oil) can be used for cleaning and medicinal purposes, man-made chemicals are a much different story. Stay away from them!

Mint Chew Tobacco: Any kind of chew tobacco can cause receding gums, oral cancers, mouth ulcers, bone/fibre loss in your mouth, and a host of other nasty problems.

Rinsing with Kerosene: Surprisingly, some people have done this… It’s just a bad, bad, bad idea!

Vodka Martinis and Sour Marsh Whiskey: Any alcoholic beverage will dry out your mouth, allowing bacteria in your mouth to thrive.

Anitbiotics: They will create super-resistant bacteria that are ten times worse than the bacteria that exist in your mouth, now. Plus, since bacteria keep funguses in your mouth under control, using antibiotics to get rid of bad breath can trigger nasty fungal infections in your mouth!

“Stomach” Pills: Although the FDA put an end to these practices, there are still some scammers that sell ‘pills’ that claim to cure bad breath in the stomach. I repeat, bad breath does not originate in the stomach! Stay away from those products.

If It Tastes Good, My Breath Must Be Good…

Like I already mentioned, gums and mints are not a solution for bad breath – they are a cover-up. However, I understand that you may want or need to pop a mint or stick of gum in your mouth from time to time. Most of us do!

But understand that taste and smell are two different senses. Just because a mint makes your mouth taste and feel good, doesn’t mean you still don’t have bad breath. Other people may still be able to smell your breath, even after popping in a mint.

Killing bad breath requires eliminating the source–not covering up the smell with products that can make your problem worse!
